Paschimeswara Temple - Bhubaneswar
Paschimeswara Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha state of India. The temple is situated on the south-western embankment of Bindusagar lake.
Therefore, Lord Shiva came to be called Paschimeshwar (i.e. the Lord of the West). This ruins temple is situated on the circumambulation path of Bindu Sarovar between Markandeshwar and Mohini Temple. The temple is surrounded by Markandeshwar Temple in the west, Akharachandi in the north-west corner, Bindusagar in the east, and private residential buildings in the south.
History
The temple is believed to have been constructed during the Bhaumkara dynasty in the 8th century AD. The temple was destroyed in 1940. Only the platform, some idols, and the linga remain.
Temple
It is a west-facing the temple. It is believed that the temple consisted of only the sanctum sanctorum without a jagamohan. The temple was completely destroyed in 1940. Only a few temples, some idols, and lingas remain. It is currently a living temple.
The lower idols of the destroyed temple are placed near the plinth. Karthikeya is shown holding a peacock holding his power in one hand. Ganesha holding the ax and Akshamala is shown with four hands. He is seated on a throne, under which a vessel of laddu is placed on a tripod.
Parvati is shown standing in intercourse and with four arms. There is a Shivalinga inside the sanctum sanctorum and is under worship. There is a statue of a four-armed Narasimha standing on a pedestal adorned in his upper form.

Shivaratri and Sankranti are festivals celebrated here with great pomp.
