STATE MUSEUMS
In 1932, Prof. N.C. Banerjee and Prof. Ghanshyam Dash, two notable historians of Ravenshaw College in Cuttack, started this Odishan museum.
They collected an excellent assortment of archaeological treasure from various places and kept them during a small museum was then on the school premises. Later in 1938, it had been transformed into the state’s primary museum by the Govt.
However, in 1947-48, when the capital of Odisha shifted from Cuttack to Bhubaneswar. The museum got shifted as well. Thus, this structure of the museum is found within the capital city of Bhubaneswar.
With time, the museum flourished, and eventually, on 29 December 1957, the inspiration stone of this structure of the museum was laid.
In 1960, the development work of the museum got completed and was also shifted to a replacement building. within the same year, the museum renamed Odisha State Museum.
