Ratha Yatra or Chariot Festival of Lord Jagannath is among the Famous Festival organized in Odisha

Ratha Yatra or Ratha Jatra or Chariot Festival of Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Balabhadra.


Puri Rath Yatra


A Hindu festival, is undoubtedly the most important and therefore the hottest festival held in Odisha. It's the oldest Ratha Yatra happening in India and therefore the world. per annum within the month of June or July, this festival is widely known on the second day of the Shukla Paksha, Ashadh month as per the normal Odia calendar.

Devi Subhadra's chariot is named as Dwarapadalan, which is 44.6 feet high with 14 wheels.  

The three chariots are taken out onto the streets of Puri within the afternoon which is when the normal Hindu festival Yatra begins.


All three chariots are pulled by the devotees with the assistance of ropes up to Gundicha temple which is simply two km faraway from the Puri Jagannath temple. This festival showcases the art and culture of Puri also as of Odisha as an entire. Many cultural activities are organized as a part of this festival.
